Product quality complaint intake when a patient is involved

A product quality complaint is a report that something is wrong with the product: a broken vial, a wrong label, a cloudy solution. If the same report describes an adverse event, drug safety has a case as well. AE Connect takes that narrative. It is not a complaint-handling system.

One story, two processes

Quality usually tracks the batch, the defect, and the Field Alert or product-recall decision. Pharmacovigilance tracks the patient event. AE Connect only helps with the second, and only as intake and a reviewed draft. It does not open a deviation, a CAPA, or a complaint record.

Paste the narrative. The draft treats the event the way it treats any other adverse-event source: seriousness, MedDRA suggestion, causality, expectedness, timeline, narrative. A reviewer decides whether an adverse event is actually present. When the narrative includes an adverse event, AE Connect integrates the case with the safety database, which remains the system of record. The complaint record stays in the quality system.

The longer version is the PQC reporting note.

Questions

Is AE Connect a QMS?

No. It does not manage complaints, batches, returns, or Field Alert Reports.

Should every complaint be pasted in?

Paste it when the report may include an adverse event. A label defect with no patient event is a quality record, not a case.

Does the safety database still get the case?

Yes. When a reviewer decides there is a case, AE Connect integrates it with that safety database, and with any other. The database remains the system of record.
